Impact of Consistency of Input on Acquisition of English Front Vowels: An Acoustic Study

The study observes the impact of consistency input on acquisition English front vowels /ɪ/, /ɪ: /, /e/, /æ/ concerning jaw opening (correlated with F1), tongue fronting F2) and duration vowels. This is a quasi-experimental that has ‘pre-test-post-test control group’ framework. Three intact class groups, at middle level from public girls school, were assigned to experimental groups group. Experimental group A was consistently exposed RP based audios/videos for sixty consecutive days. B inconsistently in alternative Control C not given treatment any kind. target embedded into / hvd syllables carrier phrase ‘say --- please’ as stimuli. Data comprising thirty six hundred tokens analyzed using FormantPro (Xu, 2013) software. results show A, particularly vowel sound /æ/, /ɪ:/ are considerably affected by consistent exposure contrary C. recommends effective phonology.
